Achieving the 1000 marathons world record and also hoping I can enjoy continued longevity in the sport into old age.
I ran my first marathon back in 1981 at the tender age of 18. Meanwhile I ran more than 900 official marathon races averaging sub 3hrs 20min at the rate of approximately one every 13 days for the last 33 years. My ultimate ambition is to become the first person ever to run 1000 official marathon races averaging under 3hrs 30min.  Aside from the satisfaction of personal achievement, my greater reward has come from being able to raise lots of money for charity and inspiring many others to chase their own dreams & ambitions. To that end I released a biography, ‘The Man Inside The Machine’ which tells my own story of how ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things.
